There was a time when I didn’t understand either what’s so good about these little fur balls, because I didn’t know

how much joy they can give. But now I wouldn’t be able to live without them. Why is it good to have a cat? I’ve tried to collect the reasons, so let’s have a look them.

1.Cats welcome you home. After a stressful day, when you enter your house, you can be sure that they will be immediately there to greet you. My first cat, Snowflake used to wait for me like a dog, usually for hours. Socks can even recognise the noise of my car, then she runs to give me kisses on my hand.

2. They are emotional supports during difficult times. They help people get over their problems more quickly.

3. Cats are emotional supports during difficult times. They help people get over their problems more quickly.

4. They are great house pets. They instantly learn how to use the litterbox, they don’t need to be taken outside multiple times a day, and they require less space.

 Happy relaxing again

5. They are independent and they don’t require a high level of attention during the whole day. They sleep for about 15 hours a day, and when you are at home, they are just happy to be close to.

6. They give you company. They usually just sit quietly near you while you work or watch telly, or they just purr on your lap. Even if you are single, you cannot feel lonely as you have somebody to love, who loves you back.

Happy relaxing

7. They are beautiful. Sometimes it’s enough just to watch them, and you will have a better day.

8. They make you more relaxed. In addition, you can sleep better because of your pet.

9. They purr. Did you know that purring (which is 20-140 Hz) has been long associated with a therapeutic healing ability on human bones and muscles?  The Fauna Communications Research Institute found that it is also good for pain relief, wound healing, muscle growth, tendon repair, joint mobility, and for dyspnea (shortness of breath) relief. Can it be that they lie deliberately on the body part, which hurts, just to relief the pain?

10. Cats are soft and fluffy. Petting them is a just a wonderful relaxing feeling.

11. They make you smile. Even watching cat videos is good for you. They boost viewers’ energy and positive emotions, as a study by Indiana University found.

12. They make you feel special. One of my adopted cats, Happy, looks at me sometimes like she had fallen in love with me. It makes me feel uniqe, lovable and important.

13. They love unconditionally. They give you a lot of love, much more than we would normally give.

14. They are cute. Especially when they sleep in different positions. Look. :)

Happy

15. They don’t cost much. Of course there are some costs like visiting the vet sometimes, getting vaccines, the sterilization, the chip, drops against flees, and of course buying them good quality food. But they don’t eat much, so on the whole this means little money.

16. They are quiet. If you live in a flat and your neighbours like silence, you will definitely not hear a complaint about your pet making a noise while you are away.

Happy sleeping

17. They mean fewer allergies for kids. According to the study of the National Institutes of Health, children under a year old who were exposed to a cat are less likely to develop all kinds of allergies.

18. They are clean. Cats spend much time grooming themselves, so you rarely have to bathe them, and yet they always feel soft and clean.

19. They have a seventh sence. You can read several stories about how they smelt smoke or gas in the house saving the whole family, because they feel when something is not ok around their humans.

20. They help lower stress level and anxiety. And because of this, cat owners are less likely to get a heart attack or stroke than non-cat owners.

21. They cling to their owners. A cat, who is treated like a family member, will have a strong bond with its owner, and will look at the human like its mom.

So on the whole, if you decided to get an entertaining and loving family member, who makes you happier, one of the best things you can do is going to an animal shelter nearby and adopt a cat. :)
