We need goals to be able to occasionally pat on our own shoulder and feel satisfied by achieving them, and thus to improve our self-esteem.

I have some too, and moreover, every final goal is divided into smaller ones, like which story or article I am going to write or translate. I do this because I realised it is the only way I can effectively progress.

I give similar advice to my students preparing for the language exam, as they have to keep the schedule on a daily basis if they want to accomplish a result. They can`t indulge themselves not to check their notes for weeks after discussing a certain topic, since in this way they stop their own improvement. So the regular practice is extremely important, because:

But what is the situation, when there is an unexpected twist in life, for example our own, or one of our family members` illness? This has happened in my family recently as well, one of my children has a fever, and she still needs about two weeks until full recovery. Therefore the carefully organised timeline turned upside down, as a mother will spend all of her energy on her child, which means closing the outside world out partially, namely in my case temporarily omitting the post of an article about self–confidence or a dog story this week.

But when the storm clouds are gone I will definitely continue doing my tasks with renewed energy, and in a similar situation I give the same advice to my students. A short break does not mean giving up. And who knows. After the break the work might be more effective.
